Our first Caline for Kids blog entry! This is so exciting for us to start blogging! We would like to introduce the “Caline Ladies”.
Let’s start with Wendy…. Wendy has owned the store for eight years now, with Caline’s being in business for over 40 years! Wendy and her husband Scott also own Ghelfi’s Candies, which is in Falmouth and Mashpee. Let’s just say we have a lot of goodies to snack on during work! Wendy has 2 children, Durham and Hannah. The favorite Ghelfi family member is Sadie, the mini poodle that many of our customers have seen sitting in the window checking out the Main Street shoppers. The most exciting thing for Wendy, at the store, is opening the boxes to start off a new season. Unpacking all the cute spring fashions has been particularly rewarding after this winter. While Wendy loves all the lines she picks up for the store, some of her current favorites are Tooby Doo, Coccoli, Nano, and Pinc for the older girls.
Next is our Caline for Kids “veteran”, Mary, known as the “Red Sox lady” to most customers. Mary has been at Caline’s since before Wendy bought the store. Mary has many great-grandkids that she constantly shops for- 3 boys, 1 girl, and 1 more girl on the way this Summer! Half of our Caline Kid picture wall is of these adorable kids wearing everything Mary buys them! Mary loves to buy Le Top, Sarah Louise, Catamini, and Deux par Deux. Her favorite part of working here is seeing the joy of the little girls that come in and twirl around in their new outfits. The combination of style and quality of our merchandise is very well known. Mary adds that Caline’s is a happy place to be, and that there’s no charge to look 🙂
Jane has worked in the Children’s Wholesale business before joining the team at Caline’s over 7 years ago. She has 12 grandchildren (wow!) ranging from 4 to 18 years. Obvioulsy, some have outgrown fashions from the store, but for the 5 younger children she loves to buy and they love to recieve the the latest styles from Caline’s! Her favorite for the younger girls is Tea, Pink Chicken, and Deux par Deux, and for the older girls she loves Ragdoll and Rockets and Pinc. For the boys it’s usually Charlie Rocket and Wes and Willy.
Danielle has been at Caline’s for 6 years now, and she loves every minute of it! She has 3 children with her husband Henry. Madeline 9, Oliver 5, and Tucker 14 months. Her kids probably take up the other half of the Caline Kids picture wall, lol. Madeline is in size 10 now and some of her favorites are Mimi and Maggie, Limeapple, Ragdoll and Rockets, Tooby Doo, and Pinc. Size 14 and the “end of Caline’s” for her is coming too quickly! Oliver wears size 5/6 and he loves Wes and Willy, Charlie Rocket, Appaman, and Tea. He loves his Sperry “boat” shoes. Danielle could go on and on with brands that she loves! She’s been buying size 18-24 months for Tucker this summer. Rompers are still her favorite… Sweet Tots, Kickee Pants, and Kissy Kissy make great ones! Tucker looks great in his See Kai Run Shoes- too cute! Danielle is happy to say that his most special “blanky” is from Caline’s, and it’s of course Aden and Anais.
Janet is our newest addition to Caline’s. She’s been here for over a year but has shopped here for many years! She has 6 grandchildren that she loves to spoil with things from our store. There are 5 boys and 1 “girly girl”. Janet loves Pink Chicken, Mimi and Maggie, and Ragdoll and Rockets for her 6 year old granddaughter. For the boys, aged 3-9, any brand that has shark shirts is great! Appaman, Wes and Willy, Luigi, and Hatley are perfect for them.
Caline’s has been very fortunate to have three fabulous, very capable, young women working at the store over the last few years. Lily P. is a senior at Falmouth Academy, heading off to Fordham University this year. Kayla is a senior at Falmouth High School and will be attending Dickinson College. Lily H. is a junior at Falmouth High School and is curretnly immersed in the college search. All three have been invaluable at the shop helping customers and merchandising the sales floor. They work the store with a poise well beyond their years.
Most of all, the team at Caline’s has fun while they are working. We have the best customers, with the most adorable Caline kids!
